Police in Colorado Springs say drag racers are to blame for a bad wreck that sent two to the hospital Monday night.
Emergency crews closed down Powers Blvd. in both directions after rescuing two patients from the crash at Milton Proby.
The call went out just after 9:30 Monday night.
Police say two cars were drag racing south-bound on Powers when the pair blew through a red light, hitting a red SUV.
The second racer, a silver sedan, kept going without stopping.
The man in the SUV had been on his way to the airport to pick up his wife from an incoming flight.
He had to be cut from the vehicle. He is expected to survive, but did suffer cuts to his face.
The driver who hit him is likely facing charges, but police say it's too early in the investigation to provide specifics.
