COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Colorado Springs police are investigating an early Saturday morning shooting.

Police say multiple shots were fired at the back of a pickup truck, near the headrest, while two people were inside. It happened near Bijou St. and Coleridge Ave. around 5 a.m. Saturday.

“I was in bed and I heard gun shots,” said Catherine Skrinak, a witness. “I heard about 10 to 15 gun shots.”

Police say two people were inside the truck, the driver, a 42 year-old man and the passenger, a 30 year-old woman. They suffered some scrapes from the broken glass, but nothing serious.

“There's no injuries, thank goodness,” said Sgt. Joe Matiatos, with CSPD. “But we do have obviously some damage to the car and there could've been some serious injuries.”

Officers say the victims drove away from the scene, to the area near N. Academy Blvd. and E. San Miguel St.

They say the two had been at a party when a fight broke out, and as they tried to leave, someone shot at them.

The man and woman say they don't know why they were targeted. Right now they say they're just lucky to be alive.

Police told KRDO NewsChannel13 they don't have anyone in custody. They are continuing to investigate to identify the suspect.
