An 80-year-old woman died after being run over by her own truck on Tuesday morning in Colorado Springs.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. in a neighborhood off of East Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard.

Police said the woman was parked in the driveway of the residence then realized she left her vehicle running and unattended.  She stood outside of the vehicle on the driver side to try to turn off the vehicle.

The truck rolled backwards, police said, and the woman was stuck on the driver side.  The vehicle rolled into the street and over a curb before striking a tree.  At this point, the woman fell in front of the truck.  The truck then rolled forward and ran over the victim, police said.

The woman was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.  Police have not released her name.
