Adams County man charged for death of stepson, 5

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. - An Adams County man is facing a charge of first-degree murder after his five-year-old stepson was pronounced dead Sunday and found with multiple internal injuries.

Barney Savedra, 30, was also charged with one count of child abuse resulting in death.

According to police, Savedra's stepson was found unresponsive at an apartment in Arvada. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

An autopsy found that the boy suffered a lacerated spleen, lacerated lungs, broken ribs, and a ruptured liver, according to our partners at Denver7. A prosecutor said Savedra watched the boy while the boy's mother was at work.

Savedra is being held without bond.
