Apartment complex is a total loss after fire

ROCKY FORD, Colo. - Four families are out of a home after an apartment building in Rocky Ford went up in flames.

The fire broke out on Sycamore Street just before 1 a.m. Sunday.

Rocky Ford, La Junta, Fowler, and Manzanola Fire Departments fought the flames in negative 22 degree weather.

Despite their efforts, the apartment building was declared a total loss.

Fire crews said everyone was able to escape the building and no one was injured.

Firefighters have not yet determined the cause.
