High school counselor retires after 53 years

PUEBLO, Colo. - A Central High School counselor retired Friday after working at her alma mater for 44 years.

Hilda Gallegos, 86, is the longest-serving employee in the Pueblo City Schools district. She worked for the district for 53 years.  Her family shares her love for Central High School so much so that every relative wore blue in a family photo to show off their true blue spirit.

"Something goes wrong at Central, we all seem to get together and we work it out as a family. And I don't think any other high school has that kind of tradition that we have," Gallegos said.

Gallegos said she'll still be attending sporting events and plans on volunteering at Central.
