Monday storms stoke flood fears

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Heavy rain and hail pounded the Colorado Springs metro area Monday, stoking flood fears across the Waldo Canyon and Black Forest Fire burn scars.

In Black Forest, those fears became reality. Fast flowing water and mud forced officials to close Shoup Road between Milam Road and Black Forest Road. It has since reopened.

Street flooding was widespread across Colorado Springs as heavy rain and hail came down in buckets. Thankfully, the heaviest rain fell east and south of the Waldo Canyon burn scar.

Thunderstorms will be possible throughout the rest of Monday evening.
