Two businesses expand to Colorado Springs

Chicago-based software firms start in May

Two Businesses Expand to Colorado...

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs' appearance on several top-ten lists recently, was a major factor in attracting two businesses to the city.

The Chamber of Commerce made the announcement Thursday morning at the Antlers Hotel downtown.

Chicago-based Investortools  -- a financial software firm for businesses -- and its main contractor, Software Builders, are expanding and will open this spring on Tech Center Drive, at the intersection of Interstate 25 and Rockrimmon Boulevard.

Mike Green, Investortools' vice president, said he became curious about Colorado Springs after vacations here by some of his 115 employees.

"It was the draw of the talk about Colorado Springs being in the top ten for this and that," he said.  "It really drew our eye and attention early on, and it caused us to take a deeper look.  So from there, the decisions had to make sense.  Does this really make sense for our business?"

Green said that both companies place a high value on the quality of life for their employees, and Colorado Springs is a good fit.

Investortools plans to hire 45 people during the next few years, with salaries starting at $50,000.
