C-DOT hoping federal money can help finish the job
Broken pieces of road and exposed rebar is what's left on Manitou Avenue going into Highway 24.
The Colorado Department of Transportation is working to get the road repaired, but they are looking for Federal money to help them out.
"Highway 24 business loop is 2 to 3 months until it opens again."
But without federal help.
"It could stay closed a little bit longer."
Logs, car parts and drains occupy the once busy road, but the work doesn't end there.
"We have some other areas where we are trying to figure out ways to convey water under Highway 24 and not have that flooding and debris come onto Highway 24."
Even though the state is helping pay for the mitigation effort for Highway 24, more money could speed up the process.
"We had anticipated 2 to 3 weeks of work to complete those improvements but with additional work trying to stabalize the Fountain Creek area this could add another month to that schedule."
C-DOT will find out if it will get any federal money tomorrow in Denver.
