The Colorado Department of Transportation says Highway 24 construction will be done in less than a month, but there are drivers who choose to steer away from the highway despite the progress.
Christopher Diaz and Kelly Bebo use different ways to avoid construction on Highway 24.
"We really don't like sitting in traffic," Bebo said.
"We use a bike or just plan a nice long hike," Diaz said.
Workers will be moving construction to the westbound lanes on Saturday night (4/12/14) to continue work on flood projects.
CDOT has been working on Highway 24 for almost two months because it's putting a box culvert under the road to prevent future flood damage on the highway.
Project manager Rich Gosner said unless flood season starts early, workers plan on making their May 3 deadline to complete the work.
