Child safe following Colorado Springs vehicle theft

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A child is safe after being in a vehicle that was stolen in Colorado Springs Tuesday night.

Officers responded to the 900 block of South Union Boulevard just after 10 p.m. on a report of a stolen vehicle.

While officers reported to the scene, they learned that a 2 1/2-year-old was in the car when it was stolen.

Officers said they later spotted the vehicle later on the 200 block of Whitman Road with the missing child in the back seat unharmed. 

Police said at this time the investigation is in its early stages and information on a suspect is still being obtained.
