Colorado Springs police warn of felon stealing from the elderly

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs police need your help finding a felon accused of stealing purses, wallets and other valuables from elderly people.

Latavia Vaughns, 30, has multiple felony warrants for robbery and is considered armed and dangerous, Springs police said in a news release issued Tuesday.

It was initially believed that Vaughns was driving a white minivan with the stolen license plate of 877UOB. However, the Colorado Springs Police Department tweeted on Tuesday afternoon that the van had been found.

According to CSPD, Vaughns knocks on front doors or approaches elderly people in stores and parking lots. She comes up with an excuse to get into the victim's house or car and then steals their items while they're distracted.
