3 sentenced to prison in murder of Colorado Springs mom

COLORADO SPRINGS - Three people were sentenced on Monday in connection to the case where a mother was murdered in front of her son in Colorado Springs.

Courtney Lynn Beaudette was fatally shot in June of 2016.

Shayanna Burton, Michael Brown, and Dylan Peters were arrested in August of 2016.

Shayanna Burton was sentenced to 24 years in prison for burglary and probation violation on Monday afternoon. The judge did opt for a reduced sentence, citing her long history of mental illness.

Michael Brown accepted a plea bargain and was sentenced to 44 years in prison for second-degree murder.

Dylan Peters was the third suspect in the case and the brains behind Beaudette's death, according to the judge. Peters pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and burglary and will spend 55 years in prison.

Our reporter in the courtroom said that Brown and Peters asked the Beaudette family for forgiveness during their statements. They said they knew what they had done was wrong and deserved to be in jail for many years.

The final suspect, Matthew Moore, Jr., was sentenced prior to November 13.
