2 dead, 3 hurt after SUV plummets down ravine on Old Stage Road

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado State Patrol says the driver of a Jeep Cherokee failed to negotiate a turn on Old Stage Road Wednesday evening, causing the SUV to plummet down a ravine.

Two people died in the crash and three others were seriously hurt. The crash was reported at 5:37 p.m.

Investigators say, Wyatt Beaman, 22, of Colorado Springs was driving the Jeep southbound when the crash happened.

Beaman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, as were passengers Matt Orrell, 31, from Colorado Springs, and Sydney Neubauer, 22, of Ogden, Iowa.

Kelby Engleen, 21, of Des Moines, Iowa and Jacob Busch, 33, of Colorado Springs were pronounced dead at the scene.
