5 minors facing several felony charges after armed robbery in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS - An armed robbery early Tuesday morning led to the capture of five minors.

At around 1:22 a.m., officers responded to the 3800 block of  Maizeland Road to investigate a robbery with a weapon.

An employee told police that it started out as a verbal altercation and led to a black man in his late teens displaying a gun. The employee was able to give a suspect vehicle description, and officers discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen.

At around 2:43 a.m., officers located that vehicle near the intersection of Stetson Hills Boulevard and Powers Boulevard.

CSPD tried to get the vehicle to pull over, but it sped up and started a pursuit.

A short time later, the vehicle stopped and two juveniles were arrested.

Further investigation led officers to the 300 block of E. Platte Avenue. There they found another vehicle that was reported stolen.

Several people tried to run from officers, and after a short foot pursuit, three more juveniles were detained.

Police believe that all of the minors are connected to the Maizeland Road incident and that several felony charges are possible.

No names have been released, and this is an ongoing investigation.
