86-yr-old dies after auto-pedestrian accident at COS intersection

COLORADO SPRINGS - An 86-year-old died on Wednesday after he was hit by a car at the intersection of East San Miguel Street and Baylor Drive. 

The crash happened on May 11 at around 8 p.m. Apparently a driver who pulled too far into an intersection hit Manuel Peak while he was backing up to allow traffic on East San Miguel Street to get by. 

Peak was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries six days later. 

No arrests have been made at this time. 

This is an ongoing investigation.

This is the 12  traffic-related fatality in Colorado Springs for  2017, and the fifth pedestrian to have died as the from a traffic accident.
