Armed hit-&-run suspect climbs on Colorado Springs roof to hide from police

COLORADO SPRINGS - An armed hit-and-run suspect had to be talked off a person's roof in Colorado Springs over the weekend.

CSPD got a call at around 1 p.m. on Saturday about a blue Chevrolet Blazer crashing into a mailbox.

According to a witness, the driver, later identified as Gabriel Garcia, got out of the truck and ran away holding a handgun.

Police got another call from a homeowner in the 3500 block of Darkwood Drive, stating that a man (Garcia) holding a handgun had climbed a tree and was on top of his roof.

Officers found Garcia and were able to talk him into dropping the weapon and getting off the roof.

He was arrested.

No injuries have been reported.
