Attempted suicide at Colorado Springs VA clinic

COLORADO SPRINGS - Authorities are investigating an attempted suicide that took place at the PFC Lindstrom VA Clinic on Friday morning.

Shortly after 6:30 a.m., a man attempted to take his own life at the PFC Lindstrom VA Clinic.

The veteran was immediately transported to a local hospital. No other details regarding his condition were released. 

The investigation is ongoing.

A spokesperson with VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System made the following statement: 

"For some of us, the holiday season can be a time of loneliness and anxiety. There are a number of community and VA resources for Pikes Peak-area Veterans who need help during this time of the year. VA has special programs to help Veterans get through the Holiday Blues, and VA Eastern Colorado’s health care professionals are ready to help.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Veteran and his family."
