Coffee with a Cop event building bridges between community, police

COLORADO SPRINGS - Dozens of police officers met with community members during a Coffee with a Cop event on Saturday.

The event looks to build upon improving relationships within the community and has steadily grown over the last few months throughout Colorado.

Members are encouraged to talk to officers about anything, whether that be complaints about the department or their favorite hobbies.

One police officer's daughter says it's important to know the men behind the uniform.

“I think it's important for people to come out and do this because then they can know like what cops do. People know cops as people that protect us from bad guys, and they just protect us and then they can get to know them more,” said Ella Huffor, daughter of Lt. Huffor.

About a dozen officers and deputies filled the room at The Airplane Restaurant. The group will hold another community gathering sometime in April.
