Colorado Springs FD investigates structure fire off Stockwell Dr.

COLORADO SPRINGS - Roads are closed in the area of Stockwell Drive and Weaver Drive on the northeast side of Colorado Springs as the Fire Department investigates a structure fire. 

We started to hear about a home in the 6000 block of Stockwell Drive engulfed in flames just before 3 p.m. 

Viewers tell us police have blocked westbound traffic on Barnes going towards Marksheffel and are redirecting traffic through another neighborhood. 

A spokesperson for the Fire Department tweeted out that crews were "making an interior attack and venting the roof of a two-story residential, also protecting exposure to nearby homes."

At around 4:15 p.m., firefighters had the fire under control. Fortunately, no one was home at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported. 

The first crew on scene did have to go in and recover five cats and one kitten. They are expected to be okay.
