Fire in Colorado Springs expected to burn for two days

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to a fire at Rocky Top Resources Inc. in the 1700-block of East Las Vegas just before 1 p.m. Saturday.

Firefighters say they think it started in a mulch pile which then spread to two other mulch piles.

Crews wetted down surrounding piles and are letting the ones that are on fire burn out.

Crews had difficulty fighting the fire because there are no fire hydrants nearby. Firefighters had to call for backup.

The fire is expected to burn for another two days, according the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
