COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Preparations for the eclipse are wrapping up as the big day is just hours away. People in southern Colorado already have their plans to watch.
"We actually pulled my little sister out of school and we've got the glasses and we're going to find a cool viewing spot," said Allie Verburg.
Patrick Carter spent the day riding bikes with this grandkids at Memorial Park. He says he's trying to stay away from the eclipse crowds.
"I think we're going to avoid the crowds and just enjoy the eclipse as we can from our normal activities," Carter said.
Tina Miller was helping those last minute eclipse viewers find the elusive glasses
"They have been looking everywhere. We've had people come from Denver, Wyoming, Pueblo, even New Mexico to come get some from us," Miller said.
Naomi Dupre bought a pair after thinking she had to come up with an alternate plan.
"I was going to have to make it out of a pizza box," Dupre said.
Dupre is planning on sneaking out to watch it.
"I just think it's something that you can't avoid, like I'm going to have to look at it, but I'm not making any special plans or anything," Dupre said.
Colorado Springs should see about 89 percent of the eclipse.
