COLORADO SPRINGS - Old underground mines are believed to be the cause of a large sinkhole that formed on a Colorado Springs roadway on Monday.
According to the city, Mariposa Street between Mt. View Lane and Magnolia Street is closed to traffic while crews work to repair the sinkhole.
A spokesperson told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that it appeared early Monday morning in the 3000 block of Mariposa.
They expect the road to be closed for several more hours.
