County officials looking to clean up eyesore in Colorado Springs

County officials looking to clean up...

COLORADO SPRINGS - El Paso County is asking for a judge's permission to clean up a mess of a situation near Barnes Road and Austin Bluffs Parkway.

A group of modular buildings is on private property in northeast Colorado Springs, and for more than two years, the county has been trying to get property owners to remove the structures.

Now, county officials are taking it into their own hands.

Business owners and people who live nearby say they're not only an eyesore but also a safety hazard.

“There's been a lot of concern in the community because we've seen kids that have climbed on top of them. We've seen vagrants inside with clothing. Our biggest concern is a fire hazard, safety hazard,” said Andrea Dugick.

The county plans to place a lien on the property for the cost of demolishing and removing the structures.
