CSFD graduates ready to serve

COLORADO SPRINGS - A new class of firefighters will be hitting the streets of Colorado Springs soon.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department held a graduation ceremony on Friday for the newest class of cadets.

Our very own Jon Karroll was the emcee for the event.

Cadets just finished up a 17-week training program, and they say they are very excited to hit the streets.

"Since I was a kid, it's something I've wanted to do. I was born and raised here in Colorado Springs, so to serve the community I was born and raised in is a dream come true," said Steven Tafoya.

Tafoya told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that the training was tough but having a good academy and a good crew made it worth it in the end.

Tafoya added that he can't wait start on his first shift next week.
