Preliminary hearing set for father arrested in death of son

Jeremy Ralph makes first court apperance

COLORADO SPRINGS - A Colorado Springs father accused of killing his 4-year-old son made his first appearance in court Tuesday.

Jeremy Ralph, 24, is facing first-degree murder and child abuse charges.

In court Tuesday, an attorney asked the judge to seal the arrest warrant in this case. The judge said he would consider it and pointed ahead to a lengthy preliminary hearing  because of the amount of discovery they have.

This case stems from Dec. 14, when police responded to reports of an unresponsive child at the Windtree Apartments.

The 4-year-old boy was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. An autopsy revealed the boy died from blunt force trauma.

The Police Department's special victims section responded to the scene and, after investigating, obtained a warrant for Ralph.

Ralph's preliminary hearing has been set for Feb. 23 at 9 a.m.
