Cyclist hit by vehicles on E. Yampa in serious condition

COLORADO SPRINGS - A bicyclist was rushed to the hospital on Monday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle on E. Yampa Street.

Apparently, the cyclist was trying to run a red light while turning onto Yampa from N. Circle Drive and was hit by a vehicle in the southbound lane, according to CSPD.

The accident happened close to 1 p.m.

The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet and suffered life-threatening injuries. There hasn't been an update on the condition of the cyclist.

Authorities do not think speed caused the collision, however, drugs or alcohol have not been ruled out.

Roads were closed until 3:46 p.m.
