Driver facing vehicular homicide and DUI charges in fatal crash

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A driver is facing vehicular homicide and DUI charges following a fatal crash on I-25.

It happened around 3:00 this morning South of Uintah Street.

The Colorado Springs Police Department says a white Toyota Corolla ran off the right side of the road and hit a retaining wall.

When police arrived on scene they found the passenger had suffered fatal injuries.

The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs and was arrested for vehicular homicide and DUI.

The names of the passenger and driver have not been released yet.

This is the 28th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. At this time last year there were 20 traffic fatalities.

CSPD is asking anyone who may have witnessed this accident to call 444-7000 with any information.
