Former Fort Carson soldier pleads guilty to fatal stabbing

COLORADO SPRINGS - A former Fort Carson soldier is heading to prison for 60 years.

Daniel Newell admitted to fatally stabbing a man during a home invasion in Colorado Springs last year.

Newell and Michael Durante killed Kyle Sullivan after they broke into Sullivan's house while trying to steal marijuana.

Durante was convicted on first-degree murder charges and was sentenced to life in prison.

Newell pleaded guilty to second-degree murder charges back in January.
