Air Academy HS threat investigated, deemed not credible

COLORADO SPRINGS - A threat against Air Academy High School is currently under investigation. District 20 representatives tell us that they received two anonymous tips via the Safe2Tell app.

We're told the threat does not appear to be credible. The school is running on normal operations Wednesday morning.

The following is the letter that was sent out to parents:

Air Academy Parents:

Early this morning two Safe2Tell tips were received indicating a threat to shoot up and blow up Air Academy High School. The tipsters indicated they received the threat through an anonymous app called Sahara.

There is no reason to believe the threat is credible as there are no suspects names, or any grudge or reason for the threat.

The Colorado Springs Police Department, El Paso County Sheriff's Office and the United States Air Force Academy Security Forces are aware and investigating the threat.  As is standard procedure, there will be extra security at Air Academy High School today.

If your student has any information or knows who is responsible for this threat, please encourage them to report it to school administration so the offender is held accountable.

Your support in helping us provide the safest school environment possible is truly appreciated.
