Man arrested after biting, hitting Colorado Springs officers

COLORADO SPRINGS - A man was arrested early Monday morning after he bit one officer and hit another over the head.

Two Colorado Springs officers responded to 10 East Platte Avenue just before 3 a.m. to check on a possible assault in progress.

When they got there, they found the suspect, Robert Gill holding a stick.

Gill tried to resist arrest and ignored all commands made by the officers, so one of them tried to tase Gill.

When that did not work, police attempted to physically restrain him, but he kept fighting them. At one point, Gill even bit one of the officers left hand and hit the other on the left side of their head.

The officers eventually were able to detain Gill. He was taken to Memorial Hospital for treatment and then transported to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center for Second Degree Assault on a Peace
