Man leads El Paso Co. deputies on pursuit, causes serious injury crash

COLORADO SPRINGS - The man who caused a crash in Colorado Springs that sent five people including himself to the hospital on Sunday has been arrested. 

Kerry A. Julien of Colorado Springs led El Paso County deputies on a pursuit early Saturday morning causing a crash at the intersection of Palmer Park and N. Circle. 

The pursuit started at around 2:38 a.m. when Julien, who was driving a Jaguar, refused to pull over on Platte Avenue near N. Chelton Road.

The pursuit lasted around 5 minutes and ended when the Jaguar ran a red light at the intersection of Palmer Park and N. Circle and struck a Hyundai.

The three people who were inside the Hyundai were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. 

Julien and his passenger were also taken to the hospital. The person riding with him suffered serious injuries while Julien was treated for minor injuries and released. 

Julien was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center and arrested on charges including Vehicular Assault, DUI, Reckless Driving, Eluding, and Habitual Traffic Offender.   

This is an ongoing investigation.
