COLORADO SPRINGS - New signs prohibiting sitting or standing on narrow medians are going up all over the city.
It follows city council approval of a new ordinance from Tuesday’s meeting.
The signs read "unlawful to occupy median."
Crews have already put up more than 40 in medians all over the city.
Enforcement for the new ordinance won't officially start until February 24th.
Anyone who breaks the law, especially in spots where these signs are up, could end up with a $50 fine.
However, the Colorado Springs Police Department says the decision whether to cite someone will be up to the officer.
Police administrators say they're hoping these signs will act as a deterrent, keeping people off the medians, and out of harms way.
