Police searching for worker accused of pistol whipping customer

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Police are searching for a Popeye's employee who is accused of pistol whipping a man around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 2800 block of E. Fountain Boulevard.

Officers initially responded to the restaurant to investigate a reported shooting. Upon arrival, police learned that a gun had been involved in a dispute between an employee and a customer, but was not fired. Witnesses said the employee struck the customer in the head with a pistol before running from the scene.

A K-9 unit was called in to assist with the search, but the employee was not found.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is not releasing the name of the employee.
