Rash of marijuana business burglaries

Rash of marijuana business burglaries
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Three attempted burglaries took place within 24 hours. The botched smash-and-grab jobs happened at three marijuana dispensaries in Colorado Springs.
It couldn't prevent damage but a high-quality security system at Sinsemilla Gardens was able to stop burglars from accessing thousands of dollars worth of medical marijuana.
"They did gain access to the lobby. Fortunately for us, we've spent the money to have everything bulletproofed beyond that, so that's as far as they can get," said Sinsemilla Gardens general manager Ryan Thompson.
The security camera footage shows three people in a truck at the front entrance attaching a chain to the door and pulling it off the frame.
"The med does require it and so, you know, just so people like this can't gain access to medicine," Thompson said.
Thompson said he doesn't think his business was targeted for what it sells.
"Three doors down from us last week got their door broke into , so I mean it's just businesses in general.," Thompson said.
Another break-in happened at Trichrome Health Consultants earlier in the week in which two men tried to smash their front window.
"We're not going to stand for it," said owner Cami Hill.
Hill says replacing a window isn't a big deal. Her concern is patient safety.
"You come in here to try and take our patient's medicine and that's what our focus is here is our patients," Hill said.
Police told her this business wasn't the only one targeted.
"Smash-and-grabs and things like that on any business in Colorado Springs should not be tolerated," Hill said.
Trichrome Health Consultants is offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
