Security footage captures COS car thieves in the act

COLORADO SPRINGS - A Colorado Springs man's security cameras captured a group of thieves attempting multiple vehicle break-ins in a local neighborhood and getting lucky with one.

In the Auburn Estates area, near Galley and Academy, on May 5, a resident's camera caught three men walking up and down his street checking to see if vehicles were locked.

The only descriptions we can get from the footage is that two of the men involved were wearing hoodies and the third had dark hair.

The trio did find one vehicle unlocked. They took a jacket and the electronics inside of it.

They then drove off in what appeared to be an Avalanche.

If you have any information on this incident or if you recognize the guys involved, contact the Colorado Springs Police Department at 444-7000.
