Several power outages, down power lines reported in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo - Powerful wind gusts caused several power outages and knocked down power lines throughout Colorado Springs Monday morning.

At last check at about 6:45 a.m., the biggest power outage affected about 3,000 people just southeast of the city, north of Security.

Another power outage affected about 40 people just north of Woodmen and I-25.

Colorado Springs Utilities is aware of the problems and is working hard on restoration. Click here for a current list of power outages in the city.

A down power line has forced a road closure in the northeast part of the city as well.

Westbound Briargate Parkway is closed due to the power line down at Lexington Blvd.
