COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Thousands of fans gathering at the World Arena were excited to see music legend Sir Elton John on Thursday night.
Fans lined up before doors opened, coming even from out of state to see the musician during a rare visit.
Many expected Elton John to tour through Denver, but when tickets went on sale, many say they couldn't pass up the opportunity to see him in Colorado Springs.
It was an experience long awaited by some.
"Tomorrow is my birthday and I have waited many years to see him in concert live. I'm very excited," Kaye Queen said.
"I couldn't see him when I was 13 because my mom said no, and now I'm here and I'm super excited," Regina Kanack said.
Elton John is turning 70 later this month, and many were excited to see what could be one of his last shows.
"I don't know that I'll necessarily be sad, I'm just grateful that he'll still get out there and do this," Jeanine Nicholls said. "I'm just going to really enjoy tonight and just take it all in. If it's the last time, then I'm happy."
