COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Police recovered a stolen truck early Tuesday morning after it was stolen from a home in Colorado Springs.

The trucks owner reported the theft at 5:25 a.m. in the 6000 block of Del Rey Drive. The owner followed the truck and tried to force the driver to pull over, according to police. The man who police say took the truck pulled a gun that had been stored in the truck's glove compartment and fired a shot at the owner, according to investigators.

Police caught up to the stolen truck at 5:50 a.m. after receiving multiple reports of the truck crashing into several other vehicles near the 4400 block of Misty Drive. The truck was found abandoned in the area.

Witnesses described the accused thief as a man in his late teens or early 20s, and wearing a black beanie and a black hoodie with red lining.

The truck was processed by police and returned to the owner.

The investigation continues.
