Suspect in custody following standoff at Commons at Briargate

COLORADO SPRINGS - A man is in custody following a standoff in the Briargate area on Wednesday night.

A sergeant told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that officers were serving a felony warrant at around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Research Parkway and Lexington when the suspect made comments like "not wanting to give up easily."

As a safety precaution, a Reverse 9-1-1 call was sent to people living near Parliament and Lexington in Briargate.

A parent told us that Rampart High School also had to be put on lockdown due to a girls basketball practice going on during the standoff.

CSPD announced that the suspect was arrested just before 9 p.m. The Shelter in Place was lifted shortly after.

The suspect's identity has not been released.

We are working to get more information.
