Victim of auto pedestrian accident dies from injuries

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado Springs Police Department says the victim of an auto pedestrian accident has died of his injuries.

CSPD responded to North Academy Boulevard and Austin Bluffs Parkway in regards to an auto pedestrian accident on May 13, 2017.

Officers determined 43 year old Kevin Munch of Colorado Springs tried to cross Northbound Academy Boulevard while in the crosswalk, against the light, when he was hit by a northbound car.

He was transported to a local hospital for treatment for his injuries.

Munch eventually died of his injuries on May 26.

The driver who hit Munch was not cited.

Munch is the 13th traffic related fatality in Colorado Springs this year. He is also the 6th pedestrian to die from a traffic related incident this year.

At this time last year, there were 11 traffic related fatalities in Colorado Springs.
