Two men disguised as utility workers tried to rob a local auto shop on July 13, which ended in the death of the owner and another person critically injured.
The Colorado Springs Police Department released footage from that morning of the two inside the Full Throttle Auto Service on Friday.
Detectives have also identified a vehicle that may have been the getaway vehicle following the crime. The vehicle is possibly a green or blue 1995 to 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, extended cab, with tinted windows, and may have custom rims. The truck has oxidation on the hood and roof. The vehicle may have body damage to the vehicle passenger side.
George John Maldonado, 50, was confirmed by the coroner's office to be the man as the owner of the auto shop and who died as a result of what happened during the robbery.
Maldonado’s death is the 17th homicide investigated by the Colorado Springs Police Department this year.
