Woman with disabilities confronted while resting on sidewalk

VIDEO Woman with disabilities...

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A woman with disabilities said when she stopped to take a break on a sidewalk near a storage unit facility on Saturday a man hit her with a sign and repeatedly told her to leave.

The video Rachel Flanary posted on Facebook has been viewed more than 11,000 times.

Flanary said she was walking home from a nearby shop with her service dog, Olivia, when she began feeling dizzy because of her medical disabilities and stopped on the sidewalk in the parking lot of the Stetson Commons Self Storage.

She said she and her service dog were on the sidewalk for about two to three minutes before a man came out and said she was trespassing, hit her in the head with a sign and told her repeatedly she needed to leave.

"I just thought that was completely inappropriate to do to someone who is on the ground, can't get up. It was just really degrading," Flanary said.

KRDO NewsChannel 13 tried to contact Stetson Commons Self Storage for comment, while the business is listed as "open" on Sundays, when our crew arrived doors were locked.
