WWII device removed from rental property in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS - Authorities are investigating a possible explosive device found at a rental property on the east side of Colorado Springs on Friday.

We've been getting reports that the object looks like an old, vintage mortar shell, but police aren't sure if it is live or not.

Apparently, people were cleaning out the rental property at 1731 Wynkoop Drive when they found the device.

Ft Carson EOD is on the scene and the bomb squad is on the way.

--UPDATE--

The item found in a rental property off Wynkoop Drive was not live. It has been turned over to Fort Carson for further investigation.
