Three people killed in small southern Colorado town shooting

CAPULIN, Colo. - A third person has died after a shooting at a birthday party in the southern Colorado town of Capulin Sunday.

The Conejos County Coroner said four people were shot while celebrating the 57-year-old victim.

Conejos County Sheriff's deputies said they have arrested the suspect, Santos Navares, 25,of La Jara.

Officials said they found two male victims identified as Guadalupe Cervantes, 57, and Jose M. Archuleta, 54, dead at the scene.

A woman, identified as 30-year-old Marissa Herrera, suffered serious injuries and was flown to a Denver Hospital. She did not survive her wounds and passed away hours later.

Don L. Martinez, 34, also suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital and flown out. His condition is unknown at this time.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is the lead investigative agency on this case. 

No other details have been confirmed. 

Capulin is located about 25 miles southwest of Alamosa, or about 143 miles southwest of Pueblo.
