Deadly domestic fight started with argument over TV show

FOUNTAIN, Colo. - Arrest papers show a deadly domestic fight in Fountain earlier this week escalated after an argument over a TV show.

David Porter, 27, admitted to 911 dispatchers that he shot his father multiple times.

He said the fight started late Monday night, when he heard his dad, Michael Porter, arguing with his mom, asking her why she was watching a stupid TV show.

David left his bedroom to confront his dad when he said his dad approached him aggressively. His mom, Pamela Porter, tried to intervene, but his dad pushed her down by her neck.

David told police that made him furious, so he went and grabbed his gun, aimed, then shot his dad in the head.

Arrest papers show Michael fell at David's feet, and David said he "blacked out" and shot his dad "a bunch of times in the head."  He estimated he shot him about seven times.

Pamela called 911 and told dispatchers her husband attacked her and her son, and then he got shot.

David took the phone and admitted the crime to dispatchers, telling them his dad was "beyond help."

When officers asked him why he did this, he said it was difficult living with his dad because his dad was always fighting with his mom.  He said it was so bad that he was considering suicide because he had become depressed from living with him.

Neighbors said they frequently heard the two fighting inside the house.

Porter will make his first court appearance March 30.
