Donthe Lucas, ex-boyfriend of Kelsie Schelling arrested in homicide case

Pueblo, COLO. - Donthe Lucas, the ex-boyfriend of Kelsie Schelling has been arrested in connection to her murder.

Lucas was already in custody at the Pueblo County Detention Center for unrelated charges.

Investigators renewed searches for clues in Schelling's case in early November.

Investigators searched on the Southwest side of the city where Schelling was last known to be.

The three main search locations: Lake Minnequa, the confluence of the Arkansas River and Fountain Creek and Dillon Drive near 40th Street.

Investigators never said what new information led to the searches or if they found anything during the searches.

The Pueblo Police Department and Colorado Bureau of Investigation have followed up on hundreds of leads in the investigation since Schelling's disappearance in 2013, but no arrests were ever made until today.

Because the case is active, details about the investigation and what led to the arrest of Lucas will not be released at this time.
