EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. - A 19-year-old has been arrested for his connection to the murders of Derek Benjamin Greer, 15, and Natalie Partida, 16.
Gustavo Marquez has been booked on two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of kidnapping.
Marquez is also facing one count of child abuse resulting in death because Greer was only 15 years old.
The arrest is a step forward in the case that began when the teens' bodies were found on the shoulder of Old Pueblo Road about 3/4 of a mile south of Hanover Road on March 12.
"To know that somebody has been taken into custody, there's probable cause behind the arrest. Hopefully, it will bring them some kind of peace," Jacqueline Kirby with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said.
Gustavo was already facing various charges including kidnapping, assault, and child abuse. He was arrested and bonded out at the end of February.
He is currently being held without bond at the El Paso County jail.
The Sheriff's office continues to investigate the case. Details about Marquez's relation to the teens and motive aren't being released at this time.
