El Paso County convenience store robbed at gunpoint

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. - The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven near Fort Carson. 

The crime happened at 4:14 a.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of B Street.

Investigators say the robber asked for Newport Cigarettes, then pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun and a magazine from the pocket of his sweatshirt. He put the magazine into the gun and pointed it at the clerk.

The victim gave the robber an undisclosed amount of money, and the bad guy took off running toward Lashelle Way.

The robber is described as man in his 20s with a light-colored bandana covering his face, a white hooded sweatshirt, a white belt and jeans.
