Man facing attempted murder charge in Widefield stabbing

WIDEFIELD, Colo. - A man is facing multiple charges after a stabbing in Widefield Monday evening.

The crime happened in the 7900 block of Weatherstone Drive, which is near S. Powers Boulevard and Mesa Ridge Parkway.

The sheriff's office says deputies were called to the home on a report of a stabbing at 6:30 p.m. on May 8, 2017.

When they arrived, first responders found a man lying on the floor in the basement. He had been stabbed multiple times.

Detectives say the stabbing happened during a fight. The victim was last reported in stable condition.

Matthew Dunomes, 20, was arrested and faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault. The sheriff's office says it may pursue additional charges.
